Mother Goose is the sixth all-singing, all-dancing fundraising panto produced at the Telegraph Hill Centre. Proceeds after costs will be evenly split between Telegraph Hill Centre and New Cross Learning.

But the really interesting story here, is about community; what it means to people and how they express it through their actions.

Fundraising for local causes has a way of connecting people to their community at a deeper level; it connects them with the community assets within it and the activities and people there.

In an era of austerity cuts, local resources like the fiercely independent and self-funding Telegraph Hill Centre and the volunteer run New Cross Learning, are beacons for many – spaces where they are safe, welcome, and able to make the connections which build community spirit and break down isolation.

In our increasingly harsh world, that’s something to be treasured and nurtured.   Events like the annual Panto and Telegraph Hill Festival as well as many other events in and around the area achieve that.   Let’s keep that spirit alive!
