Your Panto needs a Poo

Sep 30, 2014 | News

Before your mind wanders onto unsavoury territory, Poo is the name of a character in this year’s Telegraph Hill Panto.

Emperor Poo is an indulged man in late middle age, imperious, dim but ultimately harmless, even ineffectual.   He’s definitely not mean.   He has some great lines in the opening and closing scenes of the Panto and is an unwitting Deus ex Machina.   It’s a showy part for the right person.   The part has to be a man as we can’t reconfigure the entire script at this stage.

What we’re looking for:

  • A man ideally able to play late middle age without too much ageing make-up
  • A willingness to attend rehearsals every Tuesday and Thursday evening (from 7.30pm to 9.30pm latest)
  • Someone who is willing to embrace the fundraising ethos of the Panto – we do it on a shoestring for a good local cause every year (this year, Telegraph Hill Centre) and with great results every time thanks to everyone’s dedication and ‘can do’ spirit

Is that you?   If so, please email Sanjit who is producing the Panto, taking care to include a contact telephone number.

Deadline – Wednesday 1st October.

Past Telegraph Hill Pantos have included, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Babes in the Wood and Puss in Boots.   Here is what audiences have said:

I brought my friends along, they’re much more Southbank than Telegraph Hill, and they had a wonderful time, laughing along with the best of them, getting every joke and every innuendo.   A triumph.

Each year’s production is better than the last – and they’ve all been good.   I’m amazed and exhilerated after each show.

We know you’re out there Poo – get in touch!
