Altered Books Art Course – Designing & Making an Altered Book

An Altered Book is a form of Mixed Media Artwork that changes a book from its original form into something different, something new – altering its appearance, content and meaning.
During Stage One of this course, we will begin to explore Altered Book Making Techniques through Mixed Media Collage, Observational Drawing and Calligraphy/Handwriting. Participants will design and create two to three pages of their Altered Bookwork with the opportunity to continue in the following terms.

Stage One is open to all levels of artistic ability with focus on developing personal artistic style and self direction through exploring Art and having FUN!

Required materials to start the course – graphite drawing pencils, drawing paper, eraser and pencil sharpener. Participants will gather and bring most of their own materials throughout the course. Everyone will choose and bring their own book to work on. You do not need to have your book for class one.
